The biocompatible synthesis of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO) was achieved by applying a simple and novel green chemistry procedure involving the use of Costus pictus leaf extract as a reducing and capping agent. The biosynthesis of ZnO nanoparticles was carried out via hydroxide precipitation at room temperature followed by calcination at 450 °C.
